Hello, my name is Dr. Robert Wolf. I have been a Catholic Pastoral Director of Music Ministry since 1974. I have a Bachelor Degree in Music Education from Butler University (Indianapolis), a Master of Music Degree with emphasis in Choral Conducting and Organ from The University of Michigan (Ann Arbor), a Doctorate in Organ Performance from The University of Michigan, and have studied Hymnology at Princeton with Erik Routley.
I have lived in the Ann Arbor area for over 40 years, and have served as a fulltime Director of Music at Saint Michael Church in Monroe from 1974-1980, Sacred Heart Church in Dearborn from 1980-1995, and Saint Patrick Church in Brighton from 1980 until 2018.
I have also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in Church Music at The University of Michigan. I am the Founder and past Director of the Lansing Diocese Chapter of The National Association of Pastoral Musicians (NPM), the Catholic Association of Church Musicians, and have served for eight years as a member of The National Advisory Board of Directors for GIA Publications, The Gregorian Institute of America Publications Company. I also served as president of the NPM National Board of Directors of Music Ministry Division for eight years. I am author of the Companion to Hymnal Worship III, published by GIA Publications.
I enjoy teaching private piano lessons for piano and organ students on all levels, and am currently working on a piano supplement series for young pianists that will allow them to practice church music as part of their lessons. In my free time I enjoy going to concerts, taking walks in the park and working out at the gym.
I feel very blessed in this new position at St Andrew Church, noting your tremendous liturgical Masses and liturgies; the beautiful singing of the assembly; the outstanding choirs, ensembles, cantors, instrumentalists, and bell choir programs; the wonderful ministry of Fr. James McDougall; the magnificent church building and facilities; and the warm welcome I am already receiving from the devoted members of the Parish. I look forward to meeting and greeting you in person.
